Celebrating Earth Day - Why So Short?

Yesterday was Earth Day and as usual, it flew by in the blink of an eye!  Why so short, I wondered?  With all of the scientific research pointing to significant changes in climate as a result of our poor planet stewardship, you would think we should assign more than one day to the effort!

If you think we have more pressing matters to deal with than keeping Mother Earth in shape, consider the people of Afghanistan.

In 2011, the Green Club of Afghanistan planted more than 28 million trees. That's nearly one tree per person in one of the world's most war-torn nations.

Or, turn your sights to the beaches of California where a group of volunteers collected more than 3 million pounds of trash that could be recycled, and that was just a day's haul.  I guess quite a bit can be accomplished in one day!

The hearing health industry has also made significant strides in producing environmentally friendly products.  Take Westone products as an example.

If you work or manage in a loud work environment, you can cut down on the amount of trash your facility produces by using custom hearing protection.  Not only do custom ear plugs protect your hearing, the use of these products also helps to protect the environment.

The bottom line is that if you commit to nurturing our planet on one day of the year, it will surely help!  However, making smart decisions with our environment in mind throughout the year, will help for a lifetime!
